Janessa was an art major at WCCC who was beginning to show an interest in art therapy when her life was tragically cut short. Having been born profoundly deaf, she overcame so many of the obstacles she encountered during her twenty-five years. The Janessa Fleming Memorial Scholarship was established to honor her strong spirit and assist others who are successfully overcoming their own disabilities.
This scholarship is available, for Art majors with a medical disability, through the Educational Foundation at Westmoreland County Community College. For further information, please visit WCCC’s website at www.wccc.edu and look for the “Alumni and Friends” tab.
