The Janessa Fleming Memorial Fund offers scholarships to deaf students and to anyone pursuing majors leading to careers serving the deaf community or sign language certification programs. The 2027 scholarship application is now available. Applications must be received by March 19, 2027.
The 2026 Scholarship Recipients
Sherry Aliotta
Sherry Aliotta attended Wallenpaupack Area High School. She will continue her studies at Pennsylvania College of Technology in the culinary field of Baking & Pastry Arts.
Maizie Jean Baunoch
Shelby James plans to attend Indiana University of PA, where she will major in Speech Therapy with a minor in Deaf Studies.
Kiley McIntyre
Kiley McIntyre, a graduate of Oakland Catholic High School and a previous scholarship recipient, is majoring in Special Education, with a concentration in
Exceptional Needs: Intense Interventions and a minor in American Sign Language at Ball State University.
Meah Myers
Meah Myers, a recent graduate of Indiana Area Senior High School, will continue her education at McDaniel College, majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in ASL, while working toward a master’s degree in Special Education.
Ryleigh Oaks
Ryleigh Oaks, a graduate of Purchase Line High School, will attend Indiana University of PA. She plans on pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Alyssa Yahner
Alyssa Yahner graduated from Northern Cambria High School and plans to attend St Francis University, where she will study to become a Physician’s Assistant.
