The Janessa Fleming Memorial Fund offers scholarships to deaf students and to any person in majors leading to careers serving the deaf community or sign language certification programs. The 2025 scholarship application is now available. Applications must be received by March 20, 2025.
The 2024 Scholarship Recipients
Spencer Ahearn
Spencer Ahearn, a graduate of Western PA School for the Deaf, will be attending Seton Hill University majoring in Sport Management.
Maura Buggey
Maura Buggey, a past recipient of the scholarship, attended Indiana Area High School. She is continuing her education in the field of Speech Language Pathology at Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s graduate school.
Jadan Grata
Jadan Grata plans to attend Mount Aloysius College. Her intended major will be American Sign Language-English Interpreting.
Kiley McIntyre
Kiley McIntyre, a past recipient, graduated from Oakland Catholic High School. She is majoring in Special Education Exceptional Needs with a minor in American Sign Language at Ball State University .
Kierra Oyler
Kierra Oyler, a Western PA School for the Deaf graduate, will be attending the University of Findlay. Her major will be in Animal Sciences Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Equestrian Sciences.
