The Janessa Fleming Memorial Fund offers scholarships to deaf students and to any person in majors leading to careers serving the deaf community or sign language certification programs. The 2026 scholarship application is now available. Applications must be received by March 20, 2026.
The 2025 Scholarship Recipients
Elizabeth Diehl
Elizabeth Diehl, a graduate of Penns Manor High School, will attend St Francis University. Her intended major is Chemistry Pre-Medicine.
Shelby James
Shelby James plans to attend Indiana University of PA, where she will major in Speech Therapy with a minor in Deaf Studies.
Kiley McIntyre
Kiley McIntyre, a graduate of Oakland Catholic High School and a past recipient, is majoring in Special Education Exceptional Needs with a minor in American Sign Language Ball State University.
Elsie Olwal
Elsie Olwal graduated from the Western PA School for the Deaf. She will attend the Rochester Institute of Technology, majoring in Computer Technology.
Madison Schrecongost
Madison Schrecongost, a recent graduate of Marion Center Area High School, will continue her education in the field of Speech-Language Pathology at Indiana University of PA.
Sarah Vogel
Sarah Vogel, a graduate of Western PA School for the Deaf, will attend the Rochester Institute of Technology. Her intended major will be Architectural and Civil Drafting Technology.
